Ozzy Osbourne is an English singer, songwriter, and actor who rose to prominence in the 1970s and the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Osbourne was ultimately fired from the band due to drug and alcohol problems but went on to have a successful solo career, releasing eleven studio albums of which the first seven were awarded multi-platinum certifications in the United States. His total sales from his years in Black Sabbath, combined with his solo work, is over 100 million.
“Speak of the Devil” is a live album released in November 1982. It is a double album consisting entirely of live versions of the songs originally recorded by Black Sabbath. Band members as guitarist Randy Rhoads and drummer Tommy Aldridge refused to participate, feeling that they had established themselves as artists. They eventually gave in due to contractual obligations, but Randy Rhoads would be killed in a plane crash. The album was recorded during the day with no audience in the even the night performance was not suitable to draw from.
