1986's Dancing Undercover was the third studio album released by Ratt. The rollicking glam metal band formed officially in 1981, shortening their name from "Mickey Ratt" and solidifying a band line-up headed by vocalist Stephen Pearcy. Dancing Undercover marked a change for the band, at the cover featured moody black-and-white images of the band, a change from their previous pin-up girl style.
Dancing Undercover went platinum and the following worldwide tour included killer opening acts like Poison, Cheap Trick, and Cinderella. Songs from the album are notable for appearing in the TV series Miami Vice and the Eddie Murphy film The Golden Child.
