One of the most acclaimed of all Texas blues men, the late Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown had a career that spanned over 50 years. The Original Peacock Recordings is where it all began, in late 1940s Houston at Don Robey's Bronze Peacock nightclub. Robey actually began his now legendary Peacock label in order to showcase the instrumental and vocal talents of Brown. Culled from dozens of sides recorded throughout the '50s, the Original Peacock Recordings highlights Gate's finest moments for the label. A talent nonpareil on the guitar, violin, harp, this is some of the absolute finest Texas blues of the 1950s, or any decade for that matter!
