Black Bob Dylan Shirt
When a 1966 motorcycle accident tabled the rest of Bob Dylan’s electric tour, a happier accident occurred while taking leave to convalesce near Woodstock New York. When he invited his touring band, the Hawks(later known as the esteemed The Band), upstate to join him, they rented a house outside Saugerties, New York and it was in the basement that Dylan and the group held jam sessions and wound up recording more than 100 songs in what would evolve into The Basement Tapes. The tracks were a range of original compositions, covers, and traditional material varying in style from old country to folk to blues. Many of the songs touched on the theme of domesticity and simple rural living. While a series of bootleg recordings circulated about, the official album, didn’t become known until 1975. Since its release, it has been universally acclaimed by critics and fans, has landed on several“greatest lists” and continues to be a crucial piece of Americana history.
