After considering a list of possibilities including Muddy Rabbit and Gossamer Wump, Creedence Clearwater Revival was born in 1968. A staple of American radio, thanks to classic tracks like "Proud Mary," "Born on the Bayou," and "Fortunate Son," Creedence Clearwater Revival (or CCR) members Tom Fogerty, John Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford played together for just four years, but CCR left a bluesy mark on rock and roll remembered for generations since.
The group has sold over 30 million albums in just the United States, but they were also a prolific tour band in their heyday. Creedence Clearwater Revival performed in venues around the world, including a show at Woodstock in 1969. Unfortunately, tensions within the band caused the group's 1972 dissolution, but the work of Creedence Clearwater Revival might just be beloved forever.
