Nathan Williams’s lush, sun-bleached power-pop-punk act, Wavves, made a splash in 2010 with the release of their third LP King of the Beach. A Spin and Pitchfork Best-of-the-Year selection, the album was a sonic evolution for the band, with Grammy-winning producer Dennis Herring at the helm, and former Jay Reatard bandmates Billy Hayes and Steve Pope on drums and bass.
Since then, Wavves have released three studio albums, including 2017’s You’re Welcome, and 2015’s collaboration with fellow indie-darlings Cloud Nothings, No Life for Me. A decade in and Williams has exchanged the garage brew for a studio sound, but the vibe is still all right.
