In 1988, Bill Elliott put an exclamation point on his NASCAR Hall of FameTM career by capturing
the NASCAR Cup SeriesTM championship. Thirty-two years later, Chase Elliott, Bill’s son, etched his
name into the record books by earning the 2020 NACAR Cup SeriesTM title.
When the younger Elliott took the checkered flag in his No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet at Phoenix to clinch the 2020 crown, it meant that he and Bill, who also drove the No. 9 to his title, became just the third father-son pairing to earn a championship at the highest level of NASCAR®.
To honor the championships of both Bill and Chase Elliott, Lionel Racing is excited to announce the No. 9 “Family Tradition” fantasy die-cast. Lionel Racing’s team of artists have created a design that combines Chase Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro with a design that reflects Bill Elliott’s No. 9 championship-winning mount from 1988. Each 1:24-scale replica is being offered in two distinct trim levels – an Action Racing Collectables (ARC) hood-open model and also a fully die-cast ELITE version that is produced with an opening hood and trunk. Each die-cast also features authentic details such as replica Goodyear tires, hand-applied decals, a driver side window net, and more. Each die-cast will also come in Elliott “Family Traditions” packaging. A 1:24-scale car accented in metallic Color Chrome and a 1:64-scale model are also on offer.
