Ten inch vinyl pressing. Many bands over the last five years have tried with great difficulty to reproduce, or even assimilate, the great power violence bands of the early '90s. The record bins are full of copy-cat bands, one-off projects, and side projects by young musicians paying homage to bands like Infest, Crossed Out and Man Is the Bastard but only the very few have the originality, talent and vision to carry this style to the next level, where mere homage gives way to an unstoppable force of leveling intensity. Pennsylvania's Backslider have proved to be one of those bands. Gaining attention with a handful of 7' releases and some full-bore touring, it's hard not to put this band on the same level as bands like Iron Lung, Lack of Interest and Weekend Nachos for sheer, sonic musical destruction. This release, as close to a full length as they have come, represents a nuclear meltdown of bullet-fast Hardcore and Doom-drenched, murderous power violence, highlighting these guys astute study of this musical genre's past while retaining the evolvement of their unique songwriting.
