Limited vinyl LP pressing. Taking their name from a hostile siege device in Games Worksop's Warhammer game, Bolt Thrower formed in Birmingham, England circa 1986 with the intention of making heavy and aggressive rock music inspired by bands such as Sacrilege, Discharge, Candlemass and Slayer. Bolt Thrower issued their first five albums on Earache Records including In Battle There Is No Law! (1988), Realm of Chaos - Slaves to Darkness (1989), War Master (1991), The IVth Crusade (1992) and... For Victory (1994). Recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, the aptly titled The IVth Crusade served as the legendary British death metalers' second to last effort on Earache and it finds the band continuing their quest to create their own unique style of music identifiable as only Bolt Thrower. A relentless set of doomier sounding tunes with mega production form Colin Richardstone (Slipknot, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth), the band also decided to break from their usual fantasy artwork here and instead used a classical painting by Delacroix.
