Duke Ellington had never previously recorded any of the tunes from Piano In The Foreground (and would never record them again), with the exception of 'Yearning For Love', which he had recorded with his orchestra on July 17, 1936, Gershwin's 'Summertime', of which various versions with his orchestra exist since 1943 and 'I Can't Get Started', which Duke included in his big band performances as early as 1946.
