Johnny Rawls pays tribute to his mentor, O. V. Wright along with Blues Hall of Fame Member Otis Clay singing with him on 3 songs. 9 of the soul great's best and 1 original, Blaze of Glory. The CD was released in October and is already receiving significant radio, will be high on the blues charts. All reviews so far are raves. When Johnny was only 23, he was hired as Wright's music director and kept that role until O.V.'s fatal heart attack in 1980 while they were on the way to a show in O.V.s Cadillac. He kept the band together during the 80s for several years, opening for and backing Little Johnny Taylor and others until launching his solo career in 1990. He has 10 Blues Music Award nominations and has won Living Blues Magazine Critics' Choice Album of the Year 3 times.
