The Long Shadows is a three piece Atlanta band founded by Montanus Trammell in 2005, and named after the Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros song, Long Shadow. The group has previously released two 7 inch records which can be downloaded for free via cdbaby. The Long Shadows have overcome many of the same pitfalls most bands are faced with, including the departure of their original guitarist Colin Taylor. After a two year stint of near non existence, the group reabsorbed Janet McKee. Janet had played a few practices as the group's lead guitar player, but declined to play any shows due to anxiety. The current line up of Will Raines, Janet McKee, and Montanus Trammell is the strongest it has been in the band's existence, creating a wonderful live experience. Their first ever full length album, Valor, was self released January 12, 2012 through funds procured durring three years of gigging, and working service industry jobs. With only half the album recorded, the loss of Colin Taylor, and drummer Will Raines working on other musical projects (including Street Violence, Fiend Without a Face, and keys on two tracks of Mastadon's latest album), the group seemed to have been lost. Then one day Adam McIntyre (The Pinx, The 45's) came into Montanus' bar and brought up the idea of completing the album. After pitching the idea to Will, the three began recording in Adam's studio. With Adam playing on a few songs and Will acting as ¾ of the band on others, the album was finally finished. Now you can have one for yourself. Purchase Valor today, and help the group fund future projects. Thank you!
