2010 reissue of the 1982 original on twelve-inch 180-gram vinyl. This is X's first album issued on a major label, and undoubtedly their finest. Just before the album's recording, singer Exene Cervanka's sister was killed by a drunk driver, and the band then wrote their grief into their music. Two of the best tracks here, "Riding With Mary" and "Come Back To Me" deal exactly with this loss. And then there's other treasures, such as the Led Zeppelin-inspired "The Hungry Wolf," and the high-energy "Motel Room in Bed" and "Blue Spark," all offset by the soothing title track and the closer, "The Have Nots." This album is one of the quintessential rock records from the '80s. If that's not enough reason to buy it, then the magic that is the vocal harmonies of Cervana and John Doe should be.
