Extreme metal group Bathory was formed in Vällingby, Sweden, in 1983 named after Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Báthory. Considered to be one of the more influential acts in heavy metal, Bathory’s first four albums are considered to be the foundational structure for Scandinavian black metal. The band is also known for creating the first Viking metal album, “Hammerheart.”
The goat and pentagram featured on this shirt, when combined, is the official insignia of the Church of Satan and is trademarked and copyrighted by them. The sigil has been called a “material pentagram” representational of carnality and earthy principles. Although the symbol is split on this t-shirt, the goat and pentagram are closely tied to black metal and, subsequently, the band Bathory.
