Destroyer is the fourth studio album by legendary rock band KISS. Formed in New York City in 1973, the lineup includes guitarist Paul Stanley, bassist Gene Simmons, lead guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss. With their wild makeup and out-of-this-world costumes, they take on stage personas: the Starchild(Stanley), the Demon(Simmons), the Spaceman(Frehley) and the Catman(Criss).
The album was a quick hit, and was certified gold within a month of its release in 1976. Destroyer peaked on the Billboard 200 chart at number 11, and the track“Beth” reached number 7 on the Billboard Singles chart. The track’s popularity sent sales soaring, and later that year the album was the band’s first to go platinum. The cover art was painted by fan and fantasy artist Ken Kelly.
