From the moment it dropped in 1984, Metallica’s Ride The Lightning has occupied the very top echelon of metal albums. The last album to feature writing from former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, it was an immediate success with fans around the world, selling more than 6,000,000 copies.
The title, taken from Steven King’s The Stand, as well as the iconic cover concept, was chosen before recording began. Today the electric chair imagery tied with the famous metallic logo and lightning bolts are world famous with metal fans across the globe.
