Bay Area thrash metal band Vio-lence burst onto the scene with the 1988 Billboard-charting album Eternal Nightmare. To support the record the band toured with other thrash and hardcore titans as D.R.I., Cro-Mags, and Testament. Known for their high-energy live show, Robb Flynn’s thrashing riffs and Phil Demmel’s max-gain leads shine on album highlights like “Serial Killer” and “Kill on Command.”
The promo copies for the band’s first 10” single, featuring the title-track “Eternal Nightmare” and “Phobophobia,” were released in an infamous “vomit pack” custom-designed plastic sleeve filled with fake vomit. Gnarly. Vio-lence released just three albums between 1988 and 1991 but reunited in 2019 for a string of shows featuring Eternal Nightmare played in its entirety.
