Third Coast Kings JUST MOOVE/ICE CREAM MAN Vinyl Record

2014 release from the Ann Arbor-based Funk/Soul band. Recorded in Detroit with the full band in one room, a minimum amount of effects, processing, microphones and mixed by much respected Funk producer Nate Goldenton, WEST GRAND BOULEVARD is the follow-up to their self-titled 2012 album. Detroit is a city of music and muscle, and this is the sound it makes when it flexes. Every track on the album is inspired by the sights, sounds, smells and history of the city. Funky instrumentals range from gas-guzzling burners to high strutting cruisers. Looking to present this history lesson/house party in a raw and real manner, the group enlisted engineer Jim Roll and Goldenton to capture the music in the most authentic (and these days, difficult) way possible. This is how Detroit did it in the '60s and '70s, so get to work on that time machine, or just let the Third Coast Kings take you on a vintage tour of WEST GRAND BOULEVARD.

Third Coast Kings WEST GRAND BOULEVARD CD

This highly anticipated 45 introduces new RK band the Third Coast Kings, a seven element deep funk and soul outfit from the home of many a great artist; Detriot/Ann Arbour, Michigan. In the tradition of the best 60s and 70s funk groups, the Kings detonate with an explosive sonic force that is guaranteed to make you move those hips and let that backbone slip! the buzz surrounding this 45 has been steadily increasing ever since it's release was announced, with DJs such as Ian Wright, DJ Andy Smith and Adrian Gibson booking their copy much in advance. The gritty sound of the Kings is the raw concoction of horn-driven hooks, devastating rhythm and an overall tightness that has made them a favorite in the Motor City area and beyond. Both "Give Me Your Love" on the a side and "Tonic Stride" on the flip throw down some heavy grooves intended to rock the livest dancefloors and restore deep funk and soul to it's rightful spot on the musical map. The Third Coast Kings are a full-fledged funk force!
