Rockford, Illinois has had something to brag about since 1973. Cheap Trick was formed with the classic lineup consisting of vocalist Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Bun E. Carlos. Their debut album released in 1977 and first found success in Japan with the release of its second album, “In Color,” later that year. Mainstream popularity in the United States began in 1979 with their breakthrough album “Cheap Trick at Budokan.” The album featured a live version of “I Want You to Want Me” which reached the Top 10 in the U.S. charts.
Cheap Trick has performed live more than 5,000 times and has sold more than 20 million albums. Over the course of the band’s career, they have experienced several resurgences of popularity. In 2016, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
