There will be smoke on the water wherever you walk with this Deep Purple shirt. Formed in Hertford in 1968, the band is considered to be the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. Despite this fact, they have changed their musical approach over the years. They were originally formed as a progressive rock band, but shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. The band, along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the“unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal.” The band was ranked number 22 on VH1’s Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
Burn is the eighth studio album released in February 1974. The album hitNo. 3 in the UK charts, No. 9 in the US Billboard 200, and reached No. 1 in four European countries. The album cover, featured on this shirt, was a representation of the change Deep Purple was going through when they recorded. Featuring a new sound and lead singer, the band moved into more of a heavy rock sound. The band and their fans were growing tired of their sound, so they decided to light a fire under their careers with the change.
