Grateful Dead formed in Palo Alto, California in 1965. Their fun, freewheeling'jam band' style left an indelible mark in music and was notable for the band's unique attention to live albums. The Dead's live album, One from the Vault, is a recording of their August 13, 1975, at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA.
The performance is notable as the first time the band performed the entirety of their then most-recent album, Blues for Allah - with some additional favorites thrown in. A wildly popular concert, bootlegged recordings were a stock-in-trade of Dead fans until the band released a high-quality version of the show in 1991's One from the Vault, via their Grateful Dead Records label.
