“Look at us today / We've gotten soft and fat / Waiting for the moment / It's just no coming back.” Minor Threat was an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1980 in Washington, D.C. by vocalist Ian MacKaye and drummer Jeff Nelson. The band was relatively short-lived, disbanding after only four years together, but had an extremely strong influence on the punk scene. Minor Threat was influential stylistically and in their“do it yourself” ethic for music distribution. Minor Threat’s music has been described as“iconic” by AllMusic and they have set the standard for many hardcore punk bands in the 1980s and 1990s.
The album artwork forSalad Days is featured here, the final Minor Threat EP. It was released July 1985, two years after the band’s breakup. It differs somewhat from the band’s previous material as all the songs are slower, making a departure from the hardcore punk style. Like many of Minor Threat’s recordings,Salad Days has never been released on CD, but all the songs are available on their 1989 compilation album“Complete Discography.”
