Formed in 1987 by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, Nirvana has become a cornerstone of modern rock n’ roll culture. Later joined by Dave Grohl(the future lead singer and guitarist of the Foo Fighters), Nirvana earned 12 awards, was nominated for 25, and has sold over 75 million records worldwide.
Nevermind was Nirvana’s second studio album. Released in 1991, the album became an unexpected success thanks to their massive hit single“Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The album is responsible for bringing alternative rock and grunge to a mainstream audience and has been certified diamond having shipped over 30 million copies worldwide. The album was an amalgamation of Kurt’s dysfunctional relationship with Tobi Vail and his self-hatred. The album artwork, a naked baby in a pool, is one of the most infamous album covers of the modern age.
