Also known as Gamma Ray, the Queens of the Stone Age have been nominated for over 40 awards and have won five of them. Formed in Palm Desert, California in 1996, the band is known for their use of multiple styles and influences. They have collaborated with the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan. The name came from a nickname given to Josh Homme’s previous band, Kyuss. Homme said,“Kings would be too macho. The Kings of the Stone Age wear armor and have axes and wrestle. The Queens of the Stone Age hang out with the Kings of the Stone Age’s girlfriends when they wrestle… Rock should be heavy enough for the boys and sweet enough for the girls.”
Being known as alternative rock, stoner rock, alternative metal, and hard rock, the band has been always dabbled into multiple genres. This shirt falls in the vein of many other pieces of artwork Queens of the Stone Age have tucked away in their catalog. Their artwork is typically symmetrical in nature with a centerpiece to focus on. This design features a full eclipse between two cliffs in the middle of a waterway.
