Styx has been dominating the charts since their formation in 1972. The band established themselves as a foundational progressive rock band in their early career, and began to incorporate pop rock and soft rock elements in the 1980s. Styx is best known for their Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 including:“Lady,”“Come Sail Away,”“Babe,”“Too Much Time on My Hands,” and“Mr. Roboto,” just to name a few. The band had four consecutive albums certified multi-platinum by the RIAA, as well as 16 top-40 singles in the US, eight of which hit the top 10.
Styxmay be best known as a rock band, but it is also the river that Charon carries souls of the newly deceased over within Greek mythology. Charon is the central figure on this t-shirt. A coin to pay Charon for passage was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of the dead person before burial. Some say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburies, had to wander the shores for one hundred years.
