Remain in Light is the fourth studio album by American rock band Talking Heads. Released in 1980, the album was recorded in the Bahamas and Philadelphia featuring lead vocalist/guitarist David Byrne, drummer Chris Franz, bassist Tina Weymouth, and keyboardist/guitarist Jerry Harrison. The group was on the cutting edge of new wave rock, combining elements of funk, art rock, and world music with a clean-cut image.
The album peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard charts and was critically acclaimed for its sonic experimentation and blends of music genres. The cover art for Remain in Light is an artistic rendition of Grumman Avenger warplane as a tribute to Weymouth’s father, who was a US Navy admiral. The art was created at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) Media Lab with help from a friend.
