The history of‘90s alternative rock wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Godsmack. The foursome from Lawrence, Massachusetts burst onto alt-rock radio when they re-mastered the demo recordings on All Wound Up and released it on Universal Recordsas their self-titled debut, Godsmack, in 1998.
On early singles like“Bad Religion,”“Keep Away,”“Whatever,” and“Voodoo,” lead singer Sully Erna flexed his vocal stylings, earning comparisons to Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell. Seven studio albums later, Godsmack is still charging their way across the international metal and hard rock concert scene.
